Survey - WA Gene Technology Bill 2024

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is now inviting public submissions on the draft Gene Technology (Western Australia) Bill 2024.  

This Bill will replace the current Gene Technology Act 2006, which is out of step with the national Gene Technology Scheme as it does not fully apply the Commonwealth’s Gene Technology Act 2000 as a law of Western Australia. This restricts research and industry applications in WA.

Once enacted, the Gene Technology (Western Australia) Bill 2024 will enable WA to participate fully in the national Gene Technology Scheme.

To make a submission:

• read the consultation paper, consultation draft and FAQs
• register (if you have previously registered on this site, then just sign in)
• complete the survey below.
